62 Mini-Triathletes Finish Strong

It was a foggy start to the 2nd Annual Nottingham Kids Triathlon, but that didn't dampen the spirits of 62 mini-triathletes as they completed the 50 meter swim, 2 mile bike and 1/2 mile run. Congratulations to all of our mini-triathletes, including many first-time triathletes!

We would also like to take an opportunity to thank the parents, local businesses and community volunteers without whose help an event like this could not be possible.

Thank you to the parents of our mini-triathletes for encouraging your child's interest in an event that emphasizes health, self-estem, self-confidence and yes, fun. A special thanks to Melissa Straley for securing so many of our great door prizes, and to Liz Dolecki, Julie Pistorio and Kelley Walters for organizing the yummy post-race refreshments.

Thank you to the local businesses that provided financial assistance or race-day support including All American Bicycle Center, Catonsville Homes, Streamlines Swim & Sport, The Greene Turtle and The Little Gym of Mount Airy.

Thank you to the local businesses that generously donated door prizes including Bent LLC, brian lausch photography, Concetta's Italian Grocer, Deja Va, Federated Insurance of Frederick, Laurienzo Brick Oven Cafe, Old Towne Restaurant, Retro-Metro, The Hive, The Snack Shack at Nottingham Swim Club, The Vintage Coffee House, Twin Arch Barber & Stylists and Walmart. A special thanks to SK Printing for their help again this year with the Nottingham Kids Triathlon race t-shirt.

And last but not least, thank you to the community volunteers for keeping our mini-triathletes safe so they in turn could have fun: student volunteers Julian Garfield, Marissa Schumacher, Brooke St. Martin and Cazmier Tymoch; the scouts and families of Cub Scout Pack 1191; Kevin Costin and Tom Walters of the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company; and Brook Donovan of the Howard County Police Department.

We are already thinking ahead to the 3rd Annual Nottingham Kids Triathlon. Only 364 days to go!

We Love Our Returning Partners

We would like to thank All American Bicycle Center and The Greene Turtle for their continued support of the Nottingham Kids Triathlon—both are back this year as partners committed to making this an annual Mount Airy event. Now through race day, All American Bicycle Center is providing free bicycle safety inspections for participants at their Damascus, MD location and will be on site to provide race-day support: pump up tires, lube a squeaky chain, tighten a loose handlebar or do an emergency tube replacement. Also, All American Bicycle Center will be handing out discount coupons and has generously donated several door prizes.

The Greene Turtle is back in a special way again this year and through their donation is making possible a 2nd Annual Nottingham Kids Triathlon keepsake that is sure to make some noise.
